False Description
They described the classes as taking 8-12 hours a week in the syllabus and advising period. Pressured me to take three classes, which I declined.
The classes they put me in take about 50 hours between the two classes. Now I'm forced to either not effectively do the coursework or withdraw. I would have adjusted my classes taken, had they been honest about how much time the classes require.
Just the audio reader on one of their classes took 11 hours to read the assigned work. That's before papers, quizzes, review, discussions.
User's recommendation: Be prepared to expect between 16 and 28 hours per class.
Horrific Experience
High school students taking Dual Enrollment through Ivy Tech have it made. They have 180-185 days to do their A&;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;P while those at Ivy Tech have 8 weeks.
There is not ONE MALE ADVISOR in the health programs from the Gary campus to Michigan City.
I changed to South Bend hoping for better and the Director of Admissions decides to "pass" me of to someone else rather than taking the time to register me.
That tells me that they're too busy and too important to help someone, who pays taxes, who is taking a class, WHO IS PAYING THEM EVERY TWO WEEKS. SURPRISED?

Some thing terrible happened
The first time I went to ivy tech community college last year, I had issues with the crna instructor. She had an incorrect schedule, class leading to be two hours over the actual hours we are required to sit in class.
Later she was demonstrating how to put on a safety belt and it was put over my head, as where we are not suppose to do that. I did not ask for that to be practiced on me, what went on in my head was that she was going to choke me . Then this following year, I could not believe what happened it was just disastrous.
This one teacher screamed something morbid like to kill my mom while I was out working, and taught it in class the next day. Another thing that had happened was that this lady had told
Me she asked her son to be Down syndromnated.
- School is accredited
- Close it down after some stuff i heard
Preferred solution: Close this school, give kids the full refund
User's recommendation: I just thought of teachers to be more safe teacher our class to be positive or good citizens for a community
Calling to drop out
I had some lady scream in my ear something very morbid. The other teacher agreed to asking for a Down syndrome kid.
Really don’t think there’s safe teachers there do not want them watching me like I had found out.
Do not want to attend school anywhere again they need to work on who they allow in the class rooms. One teacher did not have the correct schedule printed out for the kids last year, it was two hours longer on the printed sheet handed out to us students.
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Don’t buy into this school
It’s Mediocre, but the payoff is worth it.
I’m a Sophomore at Ivy Tech, and it’s been mediocre for the most part. I’m up here in Northwest Indiana, and I’m a hard working student.
The campus policy removed the credit line for buying books, and that was a bad move because I can’t afford them seeing as I am unemployed .
Then, my FAFSA did not renew and I had no idea that I had to renew it so I accrued $500 in debt from starting a payment plan in my credit card. If that wasn’t bad enough, my advisor placed me in a class that I already took last year. So all of that money and time was wasted on tomfoolery.
I’m not happy, but I’m meeting with the head advisor so, I may not lose my cash for the wasted class. I’m just irritated that my graduation was pushed by eight weeks.
Financial aid dispersments
This is my second semester at Ivy Tech and I don't understand why they hold financial aid for so long. I have grants and loans to pay for tuition, books and supplies but classes started this week and I don't have supplies I need so I called and was told that they won't start processing refunds for 10 more days and it could take up to 2 weeks to process and then 2-3 more days to deposit to my bank so by the time they release my aid classes will be half over.
I attended another school in Ohio before moving here and never had this problem, aid was released the first week. I'm thinking about checking into this further because it seems they are trying to force students to shop for supplies in the bookstore which is way overpriced and since I have to pay most of this money back I should be able to shop where I want.
- Classess and professors
Inconsistent education
I have been graded on reading wikipedia articles and watching Linus Tech Tips.
Was not notified of loan approval
Jan 2019 I registered for 3 spring classes (9credit hours). I joined the class a week late due to transferring last minute.
I worked my *** off to catch up in this 8 week class while waiting for my loan money. (After 2 weeks I called about and they assured me I wouldn’t be dropped for non payment.)WITHOUT a textbook or computer! I maintained an “A” in the class when suddenly without notice I was dropped for non payment!! I discovered this while trying to submit my assignments online.
I called and they said my loan was approved 3 days prior!! I was not notified by email or otherwise per their policy! I go to the school first thing to be re enrolled and got all approved signatures then proceed to business office to transfer loan money to pay for my textbook and class. I go home and by end of day I still had not received my loan money!
I called. They said I couldn’t get my loan money until I was re enrolled with 6 credits. It was a week later and I received a call from ivy tech asking if I was aware I was dropped from my class???!!!!???!!!!! They still had not reinstated me after a WEEK!
By then I missed so much work and midterms were starting and they said I can’t get my loan till March now once my other class started!! Was not notified of this info!! So, I dropped all classes and went on about my life. Until I received and invoice for $1520!!!
They think I should pay for a class I NEVER TOOK!!!!! they want me to walk in to that school to fill out forms to dispute this invoice???!!!!
Not cooperative with students!
I have had 3 family emergencies while attending this school.
The first one was a death in the family and school policy is to allow students to make up missed exams for funerals and when I informed my teacher I would miss my math exam she asked if I could make it to the later class same day to take it or else I would just have a zero. I had to contact the math department chair to get everything settled and even after I recieved the test my teacher said “we both know if it were up to me I wouldn’t have given you this exam.” Same semester about a month later I broke my leg and couldn’t walk. Had all my instuctors mocking me, making fun of my walking assistant given to me by my doctor and refusing to let me trade group partners because of their verbal abuse regarding my injury.
2nd family emergency another death and I missed 2 weeks of classes. One instructor made Jokes about my return in class quickly stopping after I said “I told you there was a death in the family it’s not my fault you’re pretending you don’t know.” I had texted and emailed him. The other instructor said “I’m not opening the assignments back up do what you can with the rest of the assignments and try your best” so I failed my last 2 classes preventing me from graduation.
The 3rd family emergency involved taking in my nieces and nephew and my science teacher is just straight up ignoring my emails. Had to go through her boss to get any response. Do not go to this school seeking a degree. Get your certificate and seek your degree elsewhere. God forbid you work full time and have children and try to go to school. Unless you are fresh out of high school and can afford working 2 days a week for full time classes you are out of luck. Many of my professors first day have told us “kids get sick, the roads are bad, jobs are jobs school should come first and if it doesn’t for you that is not my problem. Do not email me with those excuses” even seen teachers tell students to leave because they are single parents and couldn’t find daycare so they had to bring their child to school with them. Ivy tech falsely promotes working students and full time parents but when you get there it is an entirely different story.
Class cancellation
I contacted ivy tech directly and my issue was resolved
Asking about requirements
I was wondering about the requirements to enter this college and it turns out I do not need to write an essay.

Verified Reviewer |Terrible communications and understanding assignments
Want to know something simple. Two of something means two things that are needed.
How did it come to having 4? I read the assignment needed yet she is not satisfy after asking her why all of a sudden she needs 4 if you needed 2? Took her two days to respond and it was coming to the finals. Speaking of coming finals we had 4 quizzes that were due on the second last week which were suppose to be due the last week of school.
It took many email responses to fix the problem let alone her not seeing this much sooner.
Swear I wish she was better at communicating her directions a lot more because she made me feel like a total moron who cannot understand her lack of directions. Now I have to take the class over again, waste all my hard earn money next year (Because it is only available in the summer time) and put my career on hold.

Tanya Webb and Ivy Tech Community College just bunch of liers.
3 workers which they lied and they never answer my emails and calls and were verbally abusive.
the first person is Tanya Webb, which when I applied for the school I gave her all the things and documents that she needed. then I went home for an emergency situation for a month and during that period until I came back and she has been not answering my emails or my sister emails or calls.
then when I got accepted she did not send the i-20 even though summer classes is started she did not send it or email me about any information for it. although she said she will send it all the times that we emailed her or went to her office. after that talked to her manager Anabel Menifee and told her about her employee and her behavior of not sending the i-20 after accepting me and being mean and not respectful with me, all she did is telling us that we were liars and she was verbally abusive and not respectful.
after 3 months of emailing Tanya every day, I went home and emailed another ivy tech branch and we talked to the third person that I am going to complaint about and his name is Ivan Hernandez which I talked him and told him that I want to transfer my files and acceptance to ivy tech of fort wane first he lied about the deadlines for the fall semester and he sent a message full of lies then he said your apply is dined and then he ignored my voice messages and calls . Also, he was verbally abusive too.

Ivy tech customer service is terrible
I went there to add and drop some classes and every time I asked a question they would get a attitude and also there was two people that worked there in particular that need to be fired period I don’t know there names but one was a older white man that had a attitude helping me and the other was a black older man who also had a attitude.
Not designed for adults, working individuals or anyone kids
math and accounting curriculum is light years beyond a level one course load..the 101 classes are not only ridiculously hard and way too lengthy in assignment time..there is no reason on earth that level of difficulty should be assigned to people who are not even pursuing an accounting or math related degree, they only have to take a very simple general overview course towards their long term degree.
Business majors do not all want to be accountants, I am one of them. It literally kept me from graduating. I work full time and have two kids, so having 8-12 hour assignments every week along with my other courses was not acceptable. And, I still did horribly, and it was the second time taking the course.
Also, towards a business degree- why in the world would earth science and astronomy be considered part of my degree but sociology isn't???!!!
Ivy tech, who is designing your curriculum?! It makes zero sense, it does't work and is designed to literally help students fail and get low GPA's, high fail and dropout rates. It's no wonder your graduation rates are so incredibly low.
And screen your teachers better, PLEASE. Almost ALL of my teachers have been terrific...but that doesn't mean you skip the scanning process. I have one teacher now that has multiple right -ups on her, horrible reviews, is rude to students and worst of all doesn't grade the assignments on time or help you when you ask. That is unacceptable as well. If you have no problem taking students money for school, then you should more carefully select our curriculum an teachers. WE the students are funding your jobs with our student loans, so use our money better!!!!!!

LOL.. You sound like a Beta whining about there not being a man to help you.
I'm guessing your nasty attitude is why you're being passed along.
You sound like a slab who likes to abuse "the help." You're paying their salary, I'm guessing the mere pittance you're paying into the system is nothing compared to what you're causing to be taken out. Please do not have children Beta...
